YOUR WALKING TOUR IN MORE DETAIL:

1. Gibraltar International Airport

Meet your guide and mini bus at the Gibraltar International Airport.  We will depart at 11:00am sharp so please arrive early.

2. Europa Point

Our first stop is Europa Point where, on a clear day, which it is most days, you can see Jebel Sidi Musa the ‘other’ pillar of Hercules. The Gibraltar lighthouse was completed in 1841 and is still the only lighthouse outside of the United Kingdom that is administered by Trinity House, the authority that looks after all the UK and the Channel Islands lighthouses.

Our stop here will be approximately 20 mins

3. St Michael’s Cave

Our mini bus will now head up into the Gibraltar Nature Reserve and to Gibraltar’s top attraction, St Michae’s Cave.  You will have around 20 mins to explore this magnificent cathedral cave. The cave was discovered back in Roman times and how it has been used as a military hospital and more recently as a concert venue. The wondrous formations will not disappoint.

4. Apes Den

Your next stop will be at Ape’s Den.  Here you will be able to spend some more time with and learning about our furry and mischievous friends, the barbary apes before heading down into the town area.

5. Cable Car base station or Casemate Square

As our time together comes to a close, you will be given the option of ending the tour at either the Cable Car base station or Casemates Square.

If you do decide to enjoy the 6 min ride to the Top of the Rock from where you will enjoy THE best views on the Rock.  2 continents, 3 countries and 2 bodies of water can be admired from the Cable Car top station terraces. The Barabary Macaques are also in residents here so you can take you time to take lots of photo photographs with them and the spectacular views.   You can also relax and enjoy a cold or hot drink  in the café while you enjoy the views.    Don’t forget to add the Cable Car ticket option to the Rock Tour ticket.

Your second option is to end the tour at  ‘Casemates,’ located at the northern end of Main Street, has café bars and restaurants of all descriptions from where you can sit and relax and watch the world go by. All of Gibraltar’s life will walk past you and you may even spot the odd famous face from film or television in Gibraltar for a break. It was originally a barracks but more than that, as its name suggests, it was a store for ammunition hence the shape of all the buildings at one side of the square. The name comes from the Italian word ‘Casa Matta’ meaning ‘Armed House’. It also was the site of Gibraltar’s public executions the last one taking place in the 1860’s in full view of the Garrison.

6. Gibraltar International Airport

The tour officially ends back at Gibraltar International Airport at approximately 13:00pm.
