History & Future

The brain child of local entrepreneur, John G Gaggero, the Cable Car built and completed by a Swiss Cable Car manufacturer, Von Roll, in 1966. Today known as Garaventa, the same Swiss team are part of the team involved in the ambitious project to completely rebuild of the entire Cable Car complex.   Works are already underway with completion planned for late 2027.

Future

The Cable Car is owned and operated by MH Bland.

Johnnie Gaggero expressed his excitement and pride in the plan to deliver a modern, environmentally friendly tourist attraction fit for the 21^st Century.  The project will elevate the attractions appeal and enhance the visitors experience to all Gibraltar and the Cable Car.
