The Sunborn

Cannon Hotel

Bristol Hotel

There are several hotels in Gibraltar that will suit almost any pocket. Ranging from the recently refurbished O’Callaghan Eliott, through to the Rock Hotel, historically the grandest hotel in Gibraltar.

Others like the Queen’s hotel nestling only about 50 metres from the Cable Car station, the Bristol Hotel next to the Gibraltar Museum and the Cannon hotel right in the middle of town just off Main Street. If you want to stay out of town with a glorious view of the Mediterranean then the excellent Caleta Hotel is the one for you. It is the only hotel in Gibraltar located next to the beach. Serviced by a regular bus route it is on the eastern side of the ‘Rock’ on Catalan Bay. If you’d like to see information on any of these hotels, click on the links below.

O’Callaghan Eliott Hotel

Recently refurbished this 4* hotel is probably the most modern in central Gibraltar. The foyer is elegantly laid out in marble and facilities are excellent. Located centrally on Governor’s Square directly opposite the Garrison Library the best way to get there is either by taxi or on foot through town. The hotel has a patio out front lined with palm trees where you can each lunch or relax. On occasion, the lounge bar hosts evenings of live music, notably local jazz musicians. It also has a rooftop restaurant where you can have that special meal with views across the Bay of Gibraltar and a gymnasium and pool if you just want to lay down, relax or get pampered. Information is on and click on the links to Gibraltar.

Probably the most recognisable landmark on the Rock next to the Moorish castle this hotel was originally built in 1932. All the rooms have views across the Bay and of the mountains of Morocco. With a lounge bar, the relaxing wisteria terrace and an award-winning restaurant the Rock hotel is an oasis of calm on the Mediterranean coastline. Directly opposite Gibraltar Alameda gardens it also has its own pool and poolside bar. It is also the only restaurant in Gibraltar where you can get ‘traditional’ afternoon tea served as they did in the ‘old’ days complete with calories.

It also has a breakfast room overlooking the garden and a snack bar. The number 3 bus leaving opposite the airport stops across the road from the hotel and Main Street is less than a minute’s walk away.

Check out if you need more.

Just off Main Street around the corner from the Catholic Cathedral this small hotel is the most centrally located. Reasonably priced it has 18 rooms simply furnished but cosy and the price includes the English breakfast.

Located in Catalan Bay the Caleta is on the other, quieter side of the Rock but serviced by a regular bus throughout the day. It has all the facilities you’d expect in a 4* hotel and the rooms have either a ‘Rock’ or ‘Sea’ view. The hotel has regular music nights throughout the year including some thespian events like a recent Phantom of the Opera night featuring songs from the play. The Caleta has 2 restaurants and a spacious piano bar with tapas or a bar menu where you can eat indoors or on the terraces looking out to sea.

With Gibraltar’s location at the entrance of the Mediterranean, it is not surprising that it is considered one of the most important maritime crossroads in the world.

Gibraltar is a favourite port of call for cruise liners, with an average of over 220 vessels calling into Gibraltar every year. If you are looking to call into Gibraltar on a slightly smaller yacht, you have a choice of 3 marines, Marina Bay, Ocean Village and Queensway Quay. Vessels arriving in Gibraltar must register at the reporting berth in Marina Bay and crew should expect thorough adherence to procedures due to the variety of illegal trafficking that goes on in the Strait.

If you are arriving in a super yacht and looking for an agent to help you with arrangements, we recommend you contact MH Bland Port Agency who have been in the maritime business for the past 200 years! The experienced team will be able to assist you in any way necessary.
